Crime in Ryemead and Micklefield, Buckinghamshire

The Wycombe town centre remains the most patrolled town centre in the Thames Valley, daily patrols continue to be carried out with the aim to detect and deter criminal behaviour, including drug offending.

At the end of April, the team carried out an intensive day of action with other departments such as incident and response and roads policing as well as the local TVP dog unit. This resulted in an arrest on suspicion of drug supply after a police dog located drugs concealed in a vehicle. The team will continue to arrange days of actions like this to proactively target drug dealers.

The town centre team are also continuing their frequent partnership working with One Recovery Bucks (ORB), with PCs and PCSOs going out with staff into the local community weekly. This is effective in engaging with offenders who are known to struggle with substance abuse, with the aim to prevent further offending.

The team will look to utilise and enforce the public space protection order (PSPO) in place and confiscate alcohol from those seen to be drinking in public. The team have been continuing proactive patrols in the town centre to monitor the issue, particularly around the Churchyard and Frogmoor where this continues to be a hotspot for this behaviour. The team are also preparing for Frogfest, with staff to attend to ensure the day is safe and fun for everybody.

The team continue to monitor the issue of Youth Anti-social behaviour in the town centre, particularly around the Bus station and The Eden Centre. As well as targeted proactive patrols to address this issue, the team are consistently engaging in partnership working with schools and youth agencies, with the aim to prevent and disrupt further anti-social behaviour that disturb local residents and put the young people of the town at risk.

The team continue to target obstructive parking while out on daily patrols. They also continue to work with council parking enforcement, planning days of joint patrols and sharing feedback and information to understand where parking is currently most an issue.

A day of action on the 13th May saw the town centre team target a variety of traffic offences including parking, it resulted in:
- 17 cars pull over and spoken to regarding speed and manner of driving
- 1 ticket for non conforming registration plate
- 8 tickets for parking offences
- One person who failed to stop was served a notice of intended prosecution
- 3 stop searches were conducted with 1 resulting in something found for suspected drug offences - the individual was issued a community resolution.

The team will continue to monitor parking issues on patrols, work with the council and plan days of action to continue to reduce illegal parking in the town centre
